Show Off
To get the Show Off trophy/achievement in Fallout 4: Contraptions, you’ll need to display one piece of armor, one suit of Power Armor, and one weapon. It sounds like it will be a big deal, but don’t worry, you can nab this trophy/achievement in a matter of minutes. To start, you’ll have to build one display for each item. All are found in the settlement crafting screen. Just go to Decorations, then to Display.
Armor Rack (Male or Female)
- 4 Wood
- 1 Cloth
Power Armor (Can be built in in four different colors)
- 6 Gear
- 4 Oil
- 4 Screw
- 4 Plastic
- 12 Aluminum
- 6 Fiberglass
- 3 Circuitry
Weapon Rack (There are seven different types, each capable of displaying a specific size)
For this guide we use the Heavy Weapon Stand. It doesn’t need to be mounted, and you can plop a Fat Man right onto it and then take it back.
- 4 Steel
Once you have each display built, simply interact with them. For the Armor Rack you’ll have to store clothing inside of it, then equip it as you would to a companion. For the weapon rack, simply interact and pick a weapon, but just remember that it has to be a size that matches the rack you’ve built. For the Power Armor display, walk a suit of power armor up to the contraption, exit it, then interact with the display to snap your suit into place. Once all three are done, your brand new Fallout 4: Contraptions trophy/achievement will pop.Â
Time Out
This is one of the more entertaining trophy/achievements in Fallout 4. You’ll need to send someone to the Pillory (most commonly known as stocks). This is that contraption that holds a person’s head and hands in place as a form of punishment. Of course, to send a settler to one, you’ll need to build the Pillory first. Naturally, this new contraption is exclusive to the Contraptions DLC. If you have that, head over to your Workshop Menu in any of your settlements and go to the Resources tab before scrolling on over to the Miscellaneous tab. To the far right you’ll find what you’re looking for:
Pillory
- 4 Wood
- 1 Concrete
Once it’s built, you just need to assign someone to it. While in the Workshop Menu, highlight any one of your settlers and press X on PS4 or “A” on Xbox One. This will select that person for assignment. Now just highlight the Pillory and press the same button again. The person doesn’t actually have to enter the Pillory. Simply assigning them to it is enough to get you this easy trophy/achievement.Â
Mass Production
The final trophy/achievement in the Contraptions DLC is to build 100 items using any builders. There are ten different builders, each building something different. To access your builders, head into your Workshop Menu go to Power, then Manufacturing, then Machinery. The machines you can build from left to right are:
- Builder: Used to build basic objects.
- Armor Forge: Used to build armor.
- Weapon Forge: Used to build basic weapons.
- Auto-Loom: Used to create clothing (dress your settlement with style).
- Energy Weapon Forge: Just like its name implies, it creates energy weapons.
- Heavy Weapon Forge: Because you can never have too many missile launchers.
- Ammunition Plant: Crafts ammunition.
- Explosives Mill: Crafts different types of mines and grenades.
- Pyrotechnics Mill: Crafts firework shells. Some create very interesting effects.
- Food Processor: Creates different food items.
The easiest one of these machines to get the Mass Production trophy/achievement with is the Builder. To make your life easier you’ll want to build a Hopper as well, more specifically the Vacuum Hopper. It will auto load your builder with whatever it needs by pulling right from the container you place it next to. Set it up next to your Workshop Table and it will have unfettered access to all of your junk. Here’s what you’ll need for both machines:
Vacuum Hopper
- 10 Steel
- 6 Rubber
- 3 Gear
- 2 circuitry
Builder (The more you build the easier this will be. Below are the resources to build only one, but you’ll want to build at least two)
- 2 Circuitry
- 3 Gear
- 4 Rubber
- 10 Steel
You’ll also need some conveyor belts feeding into and out of your Builders. Why? Because if you set them both to build the same thing, they will build them, send them to one another, break them down, and then build them again. This creates a loop of resources and will speed up the entire process for you.
The last thing you’ll need is a Terminal on the same circuit as your Builders:
Terminal
- 2 Rubber
- 2 Copper
- 2 Circuitry
- 4 Aluminum
Now get it all powered up and you’re ready to begin. Use the terminal to select something really simple to build. Plastic Pumpkins use only 4 Plastic, Steel Balls use 5 Steel, and Kickballs use only 4 Rubber. Whichever you have the most of, just go nuts and create them. As the machines feed into each other, you’ll eventually hit the 100 things made mark, and your trophy/achievement will pop.
That’s all of the trophies/achievements for Fallout 4: Contraptions. They may have seemed convoluted, but not too difficult at all right?
