How to Get Through Victory Road

Before you enter Victory Road cave, we recommend that you stock up on plenty of potions, revives, and repels. There are several trainer battles and lots of high-level wild Pokemon encounters in this segment of the game.

Also, you will need to make sure you have the following moves registered on your Poketch app: Rock Climb, Rock Smash, Strength, Surf, and Waterfall. All of these are necessary for navigating Victory Road.

Once you enter Victory Road, cross the three bridges straight ahead, to your right, and straight ahead again. Use Rock Climb to descend the cliff to the right of the bridge.

Then, head left until you reach a small staircase. Go up those stairs and go north until you see two sets of stairs to your left that lead to a higher part of the cave.

In this next area, you’ll see a few different types of boulders blocking your way. Use Rock Smash to break the brown boulders that lead to the south and head down that way.

Within a few steps, you’ll come across three grey boulders that you’ll need to use Strength to move. Push them in this order: right boulder down, top boulder left, middle boulder down.

Continue left where you will see some more grey boulders that can be moved. Push the left boulder down, then use Rock Smash on the brown boulder, then push the grey boulder back up to where it was before.

From here, keep heading right until you see three more grey boulders. Push the top boulder just one space to the right and then head north.

You’ll see some stairs leading down, so take those and head across the bridge, using Rock Climb to descend down this cliff.

Head up and around this bend and down some more stairs to a new area. You should now see a pool of water. Surf across it, taking the inside path past the trainer until you reach a waterfall. Use the Waterfall move to climb up it and continue surfing. You’ll eventually pass another trainer, surf south, and see another staircase leading up.

We’re almost there! Take the staircase, head left until you see a trainer, then immediately go south under a bridge. Turn right, climb up a cliff with Rock Climb, and head over the very last bridge to the north.

If you followed these instructions, you’ll come across the cave’s exit to the left. You have finally arrived at the Pokemon League.
