Here we are in 2021 and yes, the coming of Madden 22 in the summer before the football season begins is still just as reliable as the Earth revolving around the Sun. If you’re here, you are either new to the series or need a refresher on some key moves. In this guide, we’ll go over how to do a QB slide in Madden 22.
How to QB Slide in Madden 22
Sliding in Madden 22 is unchanged and very easy to do once you know how and when you can use it.
To begin, you’ll need to enter into a scramble while playing as the QB. This is done by pressing and holding down R2 on PlayStation or RT on Xbox. You can’t slide while you’re looking to throw the ball.
While you can scramble at any time, you still can’t slide at any time. You’ll also need to be beyond the line of scrimmage. If you’re still at or behind the line, the QB will instead try to initiate a pass, which can be potentially extremely problematic.
Once you’re scrambling and beyond the line of scrimmage, to QB Slide in Madden 22, release R2/RT to stop scrambling, and then press Square on PlayStation or the X button on Xbox.
This should not only get you a few extra yards at the end of your scramble, but you will also protect the ball and minimize your chance of a fumble.
QBs are extremely prone to fumbling the ball when they are tackled beyond the line of scrimmage while not sliding, perhaps more than any player on the field.
It’s absolutely critical that if you’re going to run outside of the pocket and beyond the line of scrimmage with your QB that you remember to tuck yourself into a slide otherwise you’re putting yourself at risk of a turnover.
