Road to the Show is once again back as one of the premiere modes in MLB The Show 21. A few of the game’s newer features such as player relationships and rivalries were enhanced this year, but ultimately it should be a very familiar mode with the same main goal: get out of the minors and into a major league lineup. Here are a few tips on how to get called up in RTTS in MLB The Show 21.

Tip 1: Play to Your Strengths

How to Get Called up in RTTS in MLB The Show 21

RTTS in MLB The Show 21 still functions similarly when it comes to getting called up in RTTS. There’s still no button that just instantly transports you to the majors but we do have tips to make the path as short as possible.

As was the case last year, your player will still naturally progress based on how they play in-game. As an example, if you’re hacking away and missing pitches all the time your plate discipline will go down. If you drive some base hits into the gap, you’ll improve your contact, etc.

What’s key is making sure you leverage the strengths and perks of the archetype your Ballplayer to focus on.

So if you want to be a power hitter, make sure you’re playing like one by swinging for extra-base hits so you can increase your stats quicker, and rise up through the minor league system faster.

If you’re struggling or your OVR is stagnating because you’re focusing on the wrong things, it will obviously take longer for you to overtake players that are higher on the depth chart than you. Playing poorly or not playing to your strengths will slow you down for not getting called up in RTTS for MLB The Show 21.

Also, try to make sure you’re picking a position that is in high demand for your team. If you’re trying to gun for Aaron Judge’s spot on the Yankees you might have a hard time with that one since he’s likely not going anywhere anytime soon. Right Brian Cashman?!

Tip 2: Make the Right Story Choices

We hope you enjoyed the perk and RPG-like management from last year because it’s back again this year in full force with some new additions as well.

Making nice with your teammates and becoming friends with them will enhance your play on the field, making it easier to accomplish everything we described in Tip 1. So yeah don’t make your life more difficult. When you talk to your teammates in the clubhouse, make sure you pick dialog options that are going to help you accomplish whatever your personal goals are.

Avoid being difficult to work with. This is especially true when it comes to the case of your manager (and for real-life outside of MLB The Show 21if we’re being honest).

If your manager asks you to change positions, give it a try if your goal is to get called up in RTTS in the shortest amount of time possible. They are offering you this route for a reason, it’s likely because they need help in the position. Check the depth chart first though to make sure, and if you see a lack of good players, go for that position if it’s offered to you.

If you’re in a dead-end spot though, explore trades and free agency as soon as you get an agent a couple of years into RTTS in MLB The Show 21. Sign with a team that actually has a need for your talents and you’ll stick around in the majors longer and play the way that you want.

Tip 3: Training & Being Patient

If you’re doing all of the above and you’re still waiting around, make sure you’re leveraging training opportunities when they come up as they can make up for, well, not being that good at the game.

Select sessions that either A: strengthen what you’re already good at and get that OVR even higher, or B: make up for things you’re really bad at that are holding you back or hurting you from a gameplay perspective such as bad Contact or Speed.

All of that being said, as long as you’re trying to get to the majors, it shouldn’t take more than a season or two in the minors to get up there. San Diego Studios knows that people want to get the majors ASAP and by design, RTTS doesn’t hold you back for long. It’s not trying to be that accurate and keep you in the minors until you’re in your late 20s.
