Though Yakuza Like a Dragon may be a JRPG, it isn’t without elements it has carried over from past Yakuza titles. one element in particular is the ability to pick up objects in the environment and use them as weapons. The game can be a little unclear on how exactly you do this though, which is why we’re here to walk you through how to use objects as weapons in Yakuza Like a Dragon.
How to Use Objects as Weapons in Yakuza Like a Dragon
Getting your characters to use objects as weapons in Yakuza Like a Dragon can be a little confusing, due to the fact that you can’t entirely control when they’ll do so.
Characters will only interact with objects and use them as weapons if they pass by them during a regular attack against enemies. Likewise, only Kasuga Ichiban will wield them in place of his original attack, with the rest of your party kicking them toward enemies for one extra attack.
You can’t command them to pick up an object, making the mechanic feel much more random than it first appeared.
Fortunately, Yakuza Like a Dragon does have workarounds to this.
If you want to ensure your party member interacts with an object, then you can wait for them to move into position on their own. As characters wait for a command, they’ll move back and forth through the arena, moving closer to or further away from objects that they can wield.
All you need to do is wait to issue an order to them until they’re next to or behind an object, and then give the command to attack. This should see them run at the enemy, collide with the object and then use it as a weapon.
Hopefully this cleared up how to use objects as weapons in Yakuza Like a Dragon. For more on the game, check out our other guides on topics like how long it takes to beat and whether there are romance options.
