How to Hot Route in Madden 21
To start, you’ll need to be in the pre-play phase; basically, the point before you initiate any sort of play. While in this phase, you can press R3 on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One to pull up your pre-play options.
From there, you can press the Triangle Button on PS4 or the Y Button on Xbox One to pull up your Hot Routes, after which you can choose which receiver you want to assign a new route to and switch up your play with.
When to Use Hot Routes
Of course, there are times and places that are better than others to Hot Route in Madden 21.
If the team you’re up against is switching up their defense to keep you from easily scoring against them, then using Hot Routes is the way to go. They can help you switch up your play patterns in a way that gets you past said defenses with minimal hassle, and can keep the opposing team from anticipating your every move.
Likewise, if your opponent’s defense is unorganized, you can use them to further throw the opposing team into chaos, preventing them from getting a read on your plays and ensuring a decisive victory as a result.
