Horizon Zero Dawn: PC Controls Guide

Developed by Guerilla Games, Horizon Zero Dawn was originally released as a PS4 exclusive title back in 2017. However, it’s finally getting a PC release this month on both Steam and Epic Games Store, and there’s a lot to be excited about. If you’re planning on playing the game with a mouse and keyboard instead of a controller, here’s a Horizon Zero Dawn PC controls guide to get you started.

While the game is probably best experienced with a controller, it’s very much playable with a mouse and keyboard as well. The PC controls are fairly intuitive, and here’s a list of all the default key bindings:

  • WASD: Movement
  • Mouse: Camera
  • Caps: Toggle walk/run
  • Left Shift: Sprint
  • C: Slide/toggle crouch
  • Spacebar: Jump
  • Left Ctrl: Dodge Roll/Slow Mount
  • E: Interact/quick save
  • V: Toggle Focus Mode
  • Q: Use medicine pouch
  • F: Use selected tool/trap
  • Z: Cycle tools left
  • X: Cycle tools right
  • H: Show HUD and objectives (hold)
  • G: Manual save (when available)
  • 1234: Fast equip weapons
  • Left click: Light melee
  • Left Shift + left click: Heavy melee
  • Right click: Aim weapon (hold)
  • Left click: Fire weapon (while aiming)
  • R: Reload (while aiming)
  • Left shift: Concentration (while aiming)
  • Tab: Weapon wheel (hold)
  • Left click: Tag target (Focus Mode)
  • Enter: Open menu
  • Esc: Pause menu

There are quite a number of buttons to keep in mind and memorize if you’re planning on playing the game with a mouse and keyboard. But the good news is that you can always just plug in a controller or gamepad to your PC if you’d prefer a more traditional gameplay experience, or one that’s similar to how it was on the PS4.

That’s all you need to know about what the PC controls are for Horizon Zero Dawn. Be sure to check our guide wiki for more tips and information on the game.
