Getting the Borderlands 3 Fish Slap Legendary Grenade Mod

If you have already been through either of Maurice’s two Revenge of the Cartels quests the name of the grenade might stand out to you. There is an enemy called FISH SLAP! (yes, including that exclamation mark) that spawns with Joey Ultraviolet at the end of the quest.

As you might have also guessed, he drops this grenade mode. However, as with every other Revenge of the Cartels legendary, it can be dropped by just about every one of the minibosses that fight alongside Joey Ultraviolet.

To get to FISH SLAP! you only need to get to the end of either of Maurice’s quests. If you have been through once, it will always be Revenge of the Cartels II: The Revengening. This quite can be done multiple times, but always requires farming 30 decoder rings from cartels members on any map in the game.

As usual and to avoid some of the grind as it isn’t an easy farm, set your game for a Mayhem 1-3, further if you have the gear for it. This one change can make a difference and cut down on times you need to re-run the whole quest and area.

Please keep in mind the event is limited and will be ending in June, after which all of the event’s legendary items will no longer be available.

Stats and Perks

Borderlands 3 Fish Slap Legendary Grenade Mod

We promise this is a grenade mod and not a prank. The Fish Slap is incredibly unique in that all of the damage it does is melee. Yes, not explosive. It counts as melee damage. This can be the breakthrough piece of gear for any melee builds (looking at you, Amara).

While this doesn’t have to only be for melee focused characters, it can also matter when used with certain melee focused relics. Either way, that 10,000 base damage without any augments still ensures a heavy hit.

Despite not having the bouncing prefix, the Fish Slap always comes with the “rubberized” trait to make it bounce at least once. This one just happened to also be a black hole not that it matters when the Fish Slap doesn’t have a long fuse time.

Time needed: 10 minutes

To summarize getting a Fish Slap

  1. Run Maurice’s quest that takes you through the Villa Ultraviolet area.

  2. Fight Joey Ultraviolet and his minibosses, any of them have a chance to drop the grenade mod.

  3. Recommended: Put your game on at least Mayhem 1-3, higher if you have the right loadout.

There you have it, everything needed for how to get the Fish Slap legendary grenade mod in Borderlands 3.
