Animal Crossing: New Horizons Pre-Orders Delayed in Some Regions

US and Canadian Amazon customers who pre-ordered Animal Crossing: New Horizons are being left disappointed by delays. As reported by Gamesradar, understandably disgruntled customers have taken to Reddit to highlight notifications from Amazon explaining their pre-orders have been pushed back by several days.

One-Dos-San-Chaar writes: “I just got a notification from Amazon letting me know it’s pushing back my AC delivery until Tuesday, March 24th. I pre-ordered the game two months ago.” Another writes ” I just got the same email. I’m about ready to cancel my pre-order and go digital.” There are dozens more reporting the same issue.

While Amazon itself doesn’t seem to have provided any reason for the delay, it seems highly likely that it’s due to the Coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic once again wreaking havoc. As noted by One-Dos-San-Chaar in a later edit of the original thread, an Amazon worker in Queens, New York tested positive for the virus.

If you’ve also received a similar notification advising of a delay and you aren’t happy to wait then Twinfinite’s advice is to cancel your physical pre-order and go digital. As the country bunkers down in self-isolation, it isn’t worth risking a trip to your local store for a physical copy — even if you have been waiting as excitedly for Animal Crossing: New Horizons as us.
