Obviously, we will be talking about spoilers and post-credits scenes for the new Sonic the Hedgehog live-action film that’s just been released in theaters. So, if you do not want to get spoiled, I would recommend turning away now and never coming back.
Just kidding, just go watch the movie and then you can come back and check out this article, but you’ve been warned.
More Eggman
Arguably, some of the best scenes in the Sonic the Hedgehog movie were the times that Dr. Eggman, played by Jim Carrey, was on-screen. Carrey did a fantastic job bringing his humor into the role and you can tell immediately that he was having a lot of fun bringing the character to life.
The bad part was that there just wasn’t enough of the wacky antics that we’re used to seeing in the video game counterparts when it comes to Sonic and Eggman’s relationship with one another.
Even though Eggman was the villain of the movie, we didn’t get to see much of Sonic and him interacting and considering that these two characters were portrayed so well, it would’ve been nice to see some of that back and forth dialogue between the two more often.
If a sequel does end up happening for Sonic, I would love to see some more action between the two, and hopefully, Eggman can keep that zany look that he had at the end of the movie because that’s the real Eggman that we know and love to hate.
More Sonic Characters
If you stuck around after the credits for the Sonic the Hedgehog movie, then you most definitely noticed a tease for Sonic’s best friend, Miles Tails Prower.
It’s now canon that Tails exists inside of this strange live-action universe and I personally cannot wait to see him interacting with Sonic in an inevitable sequel to this film, but why stop there?
There are a couple of other quirky characters from the Sonic franchise that would be welcomed with open arms by the community such as Knuckles, Amy, and Big the Cat.
While the Sonic movie was pretty good for a video game movie, there seemed to be a lack of actual Sonic characters and references throughout the film. It almost felt like the settings and the plot were made to fit Sonic into it but not the other way around.
It’d be great to see more of Sonic’s backstory and how his universe fits into the grand scheme of things.
More Action-Packed Moments
Once I left the movie theater after having watched the Sonic film, one of the biggest disappointments that I kept thinking about was the lack of memorable and cool action-heavy moments during the movie.
Sonic comes from a video game franchise that is all about going fast, defeating enemies, and turning into Super Sonic with the help of the Chaos Emeralds and I hate to say this, but the movie didn’t give viewers much of that.
There were some really thrilling moments when Sonic would move so quickly that he could manipulate slower moving objects around him and those scenes were really fun, but I wanted more of it and I just really hope that a sequel could deliver on that a bit more.
For those that have watched the film already too, what would you want in a potential live-action sequel? Feel free to let us know in the comments section below!
