How to Hardened Iron in Remnant From The Ashes

Remnant is a semi procedurally generated game, so there is an element of randomness to acquiring anything in the game. Some items have a fairly low drop rate too, so don’t be discouraged.

Hardened Iron, thankfully enough, is fairly straight forward to obtain. It can actually be dropped by any enemy in the game. It can also spawn randomly in the world, and can even be purchased from Ace for 75 Scrap each after a certain point in the story.

However, there is a catch. The game tracks the relative strength of your equipment and will only drop the kind of upgrade relevant to your current item level.

The progression goes like this:

  1. Iron

Upgrades weapons and armor to level 1-5

  2. Forged Iron

Upgrades weapons and armor to level 6-10

  3. Galvanised Iron

Upgrades weapons and armor to level 11-15

  4. Hardened Iron

Upgrades weapons and armor to level 16-19

And that’s it, just keep on upgrading your gear, the game will recognize your current item level and reward you with the appropriate materials.

Be sure to keep an out for the random spawns in the environment too so you can speed up this process. You are going to need quite a stock to upgrade all of your gear.
