Money, or Yuan, is something you’ll need quite often in the game, especially if you’re wanting to get all of those precious skill books. How to Get the Herb Map in Shenmue 3
Making money in Shenmue 3 can be hard, and boy can you spend it fast. While you can chop wood at Tao’s store, your other option is to sell herb sets to him.
Herbs are scattered all around the world of Shenmue 3, and you’ll notice this while running around as an orange circle appears where one is. While you can certainly run around until you find them, the Herb Map item can help in your search.

Here’s how to get the Herb Map in Shenmue 3.
- Head toward Bailu Village and go to Tao’s Shop by the Verdant Bridge.
- At the entrance of the shop look to the right of the door for a podium with maps on it.
- Enter Zoom mode by holding L2 then press X to pick up the maps. Make sure you pick up both of them.
- To use the maps open your inventory with R1 then select them. They’ll show you a map of the area and each red dot is an herb.
Once you’ve collected some herbs you have a couple of different options. Like we said before, you can sell them at Tao’s shop to make a tidy little profit.
However, you can also use the min your inventory under Skill Book Exchange. If you collect the right sets of herbs, you can exchange them for new Skill Books which will give you powerful new combat moves.
