Horizon Chase Turbo, the arcade throwback racing game, has been out on consoles for a while, but it returns to the limelight this month as it is part of PlayStation Plus’ July 2019 lineup. Alongside old-school gameplay and graphics, it brings backs classic 4-player local racing. Here’s everything you need to know about how to play splitscreen multiplayer in Horizon Chase Turbo.
How to Set Up Splitscreen Multiplayer Races in Horizon Chase Turbo
Unlike splitscreen in many other modern games, whether that be racing games or not, the feature isn’t limited to a small mode of its own in Horizon Chase Turbo. The best place to jump into a race with your friends on the couch is the World Tour mode, but you need to start the setup from the main menu.
In the bottom right corner of the screen, you’ll see four little boxes, one of which will have your player avatar in it. These boxes represent the players who are signed in and connected to the game locally.
So, to get another player to join, simply have them turn the controller on and sign into the account they want to use. Their avatar should then appear in the next box along. You can do this with up to four players, and everyone will have full control of the menus before you jump into splitscreen multiplayer.
You’re then able to jump into the actual racing wherever you want. Select the World Tour, and choose the race that you want to take part in, just as you would if you were playing on your own.
Then, before the splitscreen multiplayer race actually begins, the screen will split into however many players are connected and each person will be able to choose the car that they want to use. The race will then begin as usual. It’s all pretty simple to set up.
