What Are Master Classes in Fire Emblem: Three Houses?

Master classes are essentially the very best ‘evolution’ of a unit type, so to speak. Any unit can become any of the eight master classes listed below, as long as they have the correct stats for it and pass the Certification Exam (more on that later).

It’s worth noting, though, that your main character (protagonist) and the House Leaders unlock access to unique classes that may be far more worthwhile pursuing over the standard eight master classes noted below.

How to Get Master Seals

In order to unlock master classes, you’ll first need to reach level 30 with a particular unit. You’ll then unlock the ability to get master seals, which can be bought at the Item Shop for 3,000 gold, albeit in limited quantities. Once you reach Act 2, however, you’ll find Anna the Merchant in the marketplace. Do a short side quest for her to open up her item shop.

Anna then sells unlimited quantities of master seals at 3,000 gold each, meaning you’re not hindered by the limited stock of the standard Item Shop.

How to Unlock All Master Classes

With the master seals in your possession, you then need to wait until you’ve got a free day. For the different master classes listed below, you’ll need to pass different Certification Exams, which are only available on free days. Each unit can also only take one exam per week, so make sure they’ve got a good chance of passing, otherwise you’re wasting your time and a master seal.

When you’re on a free day, open up the menu and choose Certifications. Next, choose the unit you want to upgrade, and then choose the master class you want the unit to try for. At this point, your master seal is automatically used up and your unit will take the exam.

Below, you’ll find all master classes in Fire Emblem: Three Houses, including the skill levels required to get a 100% pass percentage on the certification exam.
