Team Sonic Racing may be plenty of fun to cruise through on your own, but like with any racer, it’s even more fun if you bring a few friends along for the ride.

How to Play With Friends in Team Sonic Racing

Local Play

Before we get into online play, it should be said Team Sonic Racing has local co-op for you to enjoy if you have a group of friends over. Of course, this way you can play split-screen with up to four players.

All you need to do is select the Local Play option from the main menu, then select what type of race you want to do.

On the bottom of the screen, at any time, you’ll see four little person icons. The extra controllers can hit their Options button on PS4 (Menu on Xbox and Plus on Switch) to instantly join.

Then just select the tracks you want, your racers, and you’re good to go.

Online Play

Now if you’re wanting to play with friends online you’ll need to select the Online Multiplayer option from the main menu. From the next screen you have two options for playing with friends; Create Custom Lobby or Join Friend’s Custom Lobby.

If you want friends to join you select the Custom Lobby option, and the game will do so.

From there you can select the rules, and hit R1 (RB) to invite anyone from your friends list to play. Your friends can also jump into the game and use the search option to find your game.

Similarly, if you have a friend that’s already created a lobby, just select the Join Friend’s Custom Lobby option and the game will automatically find a lobby that your friend has created.

That’s everything you need to know about how to play with friends in Team Sonic Racing. For more tips, guides, and info on all things Sonic the Hedgehog, make sure to search Twinfinite.
