Not only is the Resident Evil 2 remake a pretty damn good video game, it’s also one of the most beautiful games in the series, alongside the also very excellent Resident Evil 7 from 2017. With Capcom’s new RE Engine, Resident Evil looks better than ever, and there are so many little details and intricacies to appreciate while playing.

For starters, the RE2 remake is probably the goriest game in the series yet, as you can clearly see the little brains and guts spilling out of the zombies as you shoot them. Shooting them in specific places will cause visible damage on their bodies as well, which means you can dismember limbs and blast their jaws off.

The police station itself is also beautiful, and the lighting effects help to make the game feel that much more atmospheric. Characters glisten in the moonlight when they’re in the rain, you can see reflections off shiny walls, and even the sinewy, fleshy mess that is G-Birkin has never looked more glorious.
