Q4 2018: Best PS4 Co-op Games
Red Dead Redemption 2 (Red Dead Online)
We go from alien bugs from outer space to the legendary Rockstar Games’ take on the Wild West. While most of the acclaim surrounding the game is from the excellent single-player campaign, you’d be remiss not to keep Red Dead Online on your radar too.
Red Dead Online right now is still in its beta, and Rockstar is still working out the balance and the overall gameplay loop at the moment.
But, past history has shown with Grand Theft Auto Online that if you give the multiplayer team some time, they will eventually land on a formula that is not only fun, but will also be supported for years to come.
As it currently stands, you and other online friends can play together in organized traditional game modes like Team Shootout or the game’s take on battle royale, Make it Count.
You can play with a friend in co-op free roam missions to earn gold, the currency needed to make your Red Dead Online characters actually look kind of good; or just enjoy the beautiful open-world with a buddy.
And of course, a nice side effect of picking up RDR2 for Red Dead Online, is that you have arguably the best single-player experience of this generation at your disposal. Pretty sweet deal.
