Sea of Thieves’ Stream Sniping Addressed by Rare; Shrouded Spoils Planned for Next Week

Like most games popular among streamers and viewers, Sea of Thieves is affected by Stream Sniping, which prompts people to use the social tools of the game and Xbox Live to join broadcasters or those around them and get in front of the camera, at times with disruptive effects.

Today Rare published a new video featuring Producer Joe Neate, who addressed the issue. He mentioned that the team at Rare has discussed what to do about it for a while, and is adopting a stance against stream sniping. While he isn’t ready to share exactly what will be done, Neate explained that tools will be implemented as soon as possible to help streamers mitigate the problem.

On top of that, we also learn that the upcoming update Shrouded Spoils is in the final phase of testing, as a few bugs are being ironed out. A final release to pioneers will come afterward, while the official launch to the whole community is planned for next week. We’ll also get to see a trailer prior to the release.

Shrouded Spoils includes interesting elements like expanded ship customization, the introduction of foggy weather, and commendations for those who have become pirate legends.

Sea of Thieves is currently available for Xbox One and PC, and playable as part of the Xbox Game Pass offering. It’s also getting a new PvP arena mode early next year.
