How to Join a Posse in Red Dead Online

Recommended Videos

Just when you thought you were out, Red Dead Redemption 2 pulls you back in with the release of its online mode, aptly titled Red Dead Online. In this mode, you’ll be able to join a posse and play with other people online. Here’s what you need to know about how to join a posse in Red Dead Online.

First off, there are two types of posses in Red Dead Online. There’s a temporary one, which is completely free to set up. And there’s a permanent one, which will cost you 200 in-game dollars.

Regardless of whether you’re joining a temporary or permanent posse, the process to actually join one is the same.

From the game’s pause menu, click on the Online option, and then choose the Posse Up option. This will put you in a random team, and match you up with random players who are currently playing. This is a pretty great way to experience Red Dead Online, as you’ll get to meet other players and get a feel for what their play styles are like.

Joining a Friend’s Posse

However, if you want to join a friend’s team in Red Dead Online, that’s possible as well. This requires your friend to have created one already, and they need to send you an invitation to join up.

Once you’ve received the invitation, press left on the d-pad, choose the Invitations option, then accept the invitation you just got from your friend. This will allow you to join their team, and you’ll be able to play the game together.

When you want to leave the team you’re in for whatever reason, just press left on the d-pad again, choose the Posse option, and then leave from there. You’ll be able to continue playing the game on your own, but you won’t be in a team with other players.

And that’s pretty much all you need to know about how to join a posse in Red Dead Online. Be sure to check our Red Dead Redemption 2 guide wiki for more tips and information on the game, or search for Twinfinite.
