Is There Crossplay in Overcooked 2? What You Need to Know
Overcooked 2 has finally arrived on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and Xbox One, bringing new recipes, dynamic stages, and more importantly, online multiplayer to the game. You can now jump into a level and shout at a friend for being a terrible chef wherever you are, at any time. However, since the sequel has come to a few different platforms, you might be wondering if there is crossplay so that you can play with a friend if they’re on a different platform to you. Well, here’s everything you need to know.
Unfortunately, as of the game’s launch, there is no crossplay in Overcooked 2. The question was raised on the game’s Steam forum pages, with a fan asking, “Is there multiplayer cross-platform or are you only able to play with the platform you buy this on?” One of Overcooked 2’s developers replied saying, “No plans for cross-platform capability at launch, but we’re not ruling it out for the future,” before clarifying by saying, “Apologies for the confusion – PC, OSX and Linux users will be able to play together. But all other platforms will not have cross-platform play. So for example, PS4 and Xbox will not be cross-compatible, and PS4 and Steam will not be cross-compatible, and so on and so forth.” Therefore, while crossplay isn’t currently available in Overcooked 2, it has not been ruled out for the future. It could be worked on soon and be added to an upcoming update. If or when crossplay ever comes to Overcooked 2, we will be sure to update you here so that you can install the update.
