Gone Home for Nintendo Switch Delayed to September; Publisher Teases “Additional News”

Annapurna Interactive, the publisher bringing Gone Home to the Nintendo Switch, has announced the game’s launch is to be delayed by two weeks. In the same Tweet, they also teased that they had “additional news” that would be revealed in tandem with the new release date.

Last week, as part of the game’s five-year anniversary celebrations, Fullbright Studios announced that Gone Home would be making its way to Nintendo Switch on Aug. 23, but that ambitiously speedy launch data has now been revised to Sept. 6, according to the game’s publisher Annapurna Interactive. The two-week delay shouldn’t have anybody too upset, but the announcement made less than 24 hours before its scheduled launch date sure was a close call.

Notably, perhaps to appease customers, the publisher threw in a tidbit of information that could point to some exciting news: Annapurna Interactive has some “additional news” to share with us when Gone Home finally does launch in September. Could that mean it intends to bring What Remains of Edith Finch to the Switch? Or perhaps Fullbright’s other narrative-adventure game, Tacoma, is on the way to Nintendo hardware? We’ll have to wait and see.

Gone Home was originally a self-published PC game via Steam, later arriving on PS4 and Xbox One via publisher Majesco Entertainment. The story of a young girl returning home to an empty house, piecing together the events that have led to its abandonment earned critical acclaim from multiple publications after its initial launch.
