Crazy Cheat Codes Discovered in Sonic Mania

Sonic Mania Plus has just recently released, adding some new characters and new modes to the retro-style 2D platformer. The website Sonic Stadium reported that fans have now discovered that — in true retro fashion — the game actually has some cheat codes.

These cheat codes do several different things. Some enable infinite continues or unlock all emeralds, while you can break the game with others, such as the Super Sonic Flight cheat code.

In order to activate the codes, go into Mania Mode from the main menu, and navigate to the ‘No Save’ option.

From here, input the code for the level select screen:

  • PS4: Hold Square, Select No save.
  • Xbox: Hold X, Select No save.
  • Switch: Hold Y, Select No save.

On the level select screen, go to sound test. Playing different sounds in specific orders will activate different cheat codes.

  • 3 3 3 1 9 7 9 0 8 1 1 – Changes all animals into Squirrels.
  • 4 1 2 6 – All Emeralds
  • 1 9 9 2 1 1 2 4 – Infinite Continues
  • 2 0 1 8 0 6 2 3 – Force Encore Mode
  • 1 9 8 9 0 5 0 1 – Unknown
  • 2 0 1 7 0 8 1 5 – Super Sonic Flight in normal levels (Don’t need to be Super to trigger it).
  • 9 0 0 1 – Max Control For Sonic (Dropdash, Super Peel Out, Insta-Shield)
  • 0 0 0 0 6 2 1 4 – Disable Super Music

You don’t need to own Sonic Mania Plus or the DLC to activate the cheat codes, but the latest patch is required. The Force Encore Mode cheat does require Sonic Mania Plus or the DLC, as Encore Mode isn’t a part of the base game.
