SimCity 4 Deluxe Edition
Top 5 Best City Building Games
An oldie, but a goldie. The preeminent city building experience, SimCity has been doing the rounds since the late ’80s. It has remained fundamentally unchanged since that time, though presumably the inaugural residents had a lot more slap bracelets, Teddy Ruxpin dolls and cocaine. Sounds like we got the short end of the stick, to be honest.
The most recent edition of SimCity was the 2013 relaunch of the same name. However, it was plagued with issues upon launch, including the requirement of a constant online connection, but without the server strength to accommodate such a mandate. It definitely was neither simsational nor simspiring, but blatantly simcompetent.
If you want a superior SimCity experience (read: a playable one), you’ll have to rewind your clock back to 2003’s SimCity 4, which is still available on Steam. It improved zoning aspects from previous titles, and also has compatibility with the first two Sims title, if you happen to still play those relics.
