The Forest’s survival action has been a pretty huge hit on PC having finally officially released via Steam recently. Many players have already got to work messing around with adding mods, or simply sharing their save game file with other players to show off what they’ve managed to accomplish. Whether you want to give your friend your save game file, or simply want to make a copy of it due to your hard drive making some funny noises, we’ll give you a hand hunting down the save game file location for you below.

The Forest’s save game file location is actually pretty straightforward. At least, it is if you actually know what you’re looking for. You’ll want to head to the following file path:

%USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\SKS\TheForest

By simply copying this above and pasting it into your Window Explorer’s address bar and pressing Enter, your PC should automatically take you to the save game file location. The file you’re looking for should look something like this ‘PlayerPrefsFile__RESUME__.dat’ in case you were having issues tracking it down.

That’s all you need to know to find the save game file location for The Forest. Now, go sharing, backing-up, or messing with your save file to your heart’s content. For more on The Forest, be sure to search for Twinfinite.
