Did Valkyrie Survive in Avengers: Infinity War?
Be warned! Spoilers for Infinity War lie ahead, so proceed with caution.
One of the coolest characters introduced in Thor: Ragnarok was Valkyrie, played by Tessa Thompson. She solidified herself as quite the badass in the movie, causing many fans to hold out hope that she would feature in future ones. Of course, at the end of Thor: Ragnarok, the ship carrying all surviving Asgardians is ambushed by Thanos and his goons and we had to wait until Infinity War to learn of their fate.
Infinity War begins with the Asgardian ship in ruins, with Thanos having destroyed everything and everyone on it. Seemingly only a few souls survived, with Thor, Hulk, Loki and Heimdall being the only ones we see. There are bodies floating out in space, though it should be noted that Asgardians can survive out in the cold-dark void of space, so we can’t write them off completely. Valkyrie is notably absent, and doesn’t show up at any point in the movie, so at first glance, it appears she might have died.
There is a passing comment which Thor makes halfway through the movie though that does at least give us some hope. He explains that Thanos wiped out ‘half of the Asgardian fleet’, pointing to a possible scenario where Valkyrie made it out alive. According to a post on Reddit regarding a recent Q&A session with Director Joe Russo, Valkyrie did indeed survive. The post reveals that many of the Asgardians made it out on escape pods. This lines up with Thanos’ tendency to only eliminate half of a civilization. Actor Tessa Thompson made light of her absence from Infinity War recently in a tweet that revealed she was on Wakanda the whole time masquerading as a goat and hanging out with Bucky.

It’s great to hear that Valkyrie did indeed make it out alive. As for other fan favorites like Korg and Miek, it’s still up in the air as to whether they are still kicking around in the MCU somewhere. It’s lucky that Valkyrie is still out there somewhere, because she will undoubtedly be a big help in the continued fight against Thanos in Avengers 4.
