Final Fantasy XV has seen a wealth of additional content since its release in 2016, with everything from character episodes to updates adding things in like character swapping. Now, finally, we’re getting something akin to a Game of the Year Edition with the Final Fantasy XV: Royal Edition. On top of bundling all DLC and add-ons, the Royal Edition adds a host of brand new content onto the game.
The biggest addition comes with an entirely new dungeon added near the end of the game in Insomnia. There’s also new bosses, a first-person mode, the ability to control the boat Royal Vessel, and more. Luckily, everything added in the Royal Edition can also be purchased through a DLC pack, for owners of the base game. The amount of changes that Final Fantasy XV has gone through is truly impressive, and if you’ve yet to experience the game there’s no better time than the Royal Edition.

Attack on Titan exploded onto the anime scene years ago, and it’s enjoyed enduring popularity since. Koei Tecmo’s 2016 adaption of the series surprised players with its tight, exciting combat that stayed true to the style and feel of the show. Now Attack on Titan 2 comes to consoles in March, and it follows the story of season 2 of the anime.
In addition to the new story, the gameplay of Attack on Titan has received a number of enhancements and refinements. Titans now have more actions and variety in their behavior, making for a much more varied combat experience that requires you to adapt. Luckily, the Omni-Directional Mobility Gear has also been improved allowing you to move quicker and with more precision. The year’s off to a good start for anime games with Dragon Ball FighterZ, and if Attack on Titan 2 is anything like the first, it should definitely be on your radar.
A Way Out

A Way Out is the newest title in the EA Originals program, and it’s the second game to be directed by Josef Fares after Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. Like Brothers, the game is heavily focused on co-op gameplay, although there’s a bit of a twist. A Way Out is designed primarily to be played in split-screen co-op with each player controlling one of the two main characters. Their stories play out side-by-side and loop together quite often, but each player’s progress isn’t synchronized. This means that while one is playing, the other player might be watching a cutscene. The story follows Vincent and and Leo, two convicted prisoners who have to break out of prison, and stay on the run from authorities.
You’ll need to cooperate in order to make it out of certain situations, like breaking out of prison, but there’s not one specific way to meet objectives. Each player can assume a number of roles, like one distracting a guard while the other nabs a tool that might help in their escape. EA Originals have been pretty good so far with Unravel and Fe, and A Way Out certainly looks like it has promise. It’s one of the more interesting titles of March to keep your eye on.
Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom

Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom is the pseudo-sequel to the original 2010 RPG from Level-5 and Studio Ghibli. The sequel tells the story of Evan Pettiwhisker Tildrum, the young king of Ding Dong Dell, who’s ousted from his throne by dark forces. Evan has to work together with new allies to rebuild his kingdom and take things back, something the game has an entirely new system for.
In addition to battles, exploration, and story, Ni No Kuni II will have a kingdom-building aspect that has you placing building and recruiting workers for your kingdom. While it doesn’t seem like it’ll be anywhere near as deep as an RTS you will need to develop certain facilities and items that will help you boost the abilities of your party, or build something you need for the story like an airship. Combine these aspects with Higgledies, the little sentient beings that you command in battle alongside your characters, and Ni No Kuni II is shaping up to be a rather unique JRPG. The Ghibli aesthetic is certainly a strong point for the title as well, and its soundtrack is also composed by Joe Hisaishi, the longtime composer of Studio Ghibli. For any RPG fan, this is one of the top titles of the year to keep an eye on.
Far Cry 5

Far Cry 5 goes through a pretty massive change in setting this March, moving away from tropical jungles and Himalayan mountains to the rolling countryside of Montana. This time, you’ll get to play around with a new character creator, as you take on the extremist cult of Eden’s Hope. Despite the big change in setting, Far Cry 5 looks like the same Far Cry that fans know and love.
Aside from following the main story you’ll be able to take down outposts, hunt animals, go fishing, and more. There’s also a “Buddy for Hire” system similar to Far Cry 2 and a “Fang for Hire” system similar to Far Cry Primal. A bigger emphasis has been put on hand-to-hand melee combat, with a wealth of new options for doing damage up close. There’s enough changes to Far Cry 5 to differentiate it from past titles, even though its core is very much the same. It remains to be seen if it makes good use of its politically charged setting and themes, but either way its bound to be one of the most fascinating releases of March.
