PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, month 3 update

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Gets Exclusive Console Release for Xbox One

Battlegrounds is bringing the fight to Xbox One.

During Microsoft’s E3 2017 press conference, the company announced that they will be bringing one of PC’s biggest games at the moment to a home on console. PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds will get an exclusive console release on Xbox One. The trailer for the console version, which will indeed include new content, is embedded below.

The creative director of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, Brendan Greene, came out on stage and announced that the game would release exclusively on Xbox One. Earlier we reported that PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds was possibly planning a release for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

In the announcement video PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is listed as a console launch exclusive for Xbox One. This language could mean that the game will come to PlayStation 4 later. Of course the specific phrasing could also be used because the game is just launching as an exclusive on consoles for Xbox One having been previously released on PC.

This iteration of the game will work in tandem with Xbox’s streaming Mixer platform since half the fun of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is watching others play the game. In addition, further down the line there will also be a free update for the recently revealed Xbox One X, which will ensure players have the highest possible graphical fidelity. The game will release on Xbox One in late 2017.
