Prey: How to Use the Recycler

How to Use the Recycler in Prey

Recommended Videos

Like many video games nowadays, Prey allows players to pick up a bunch of junk and other items in the world so they can craft more handy resources or weaponry. Prey takes this one step further, though. Instead of letting you craft ammo from those mugs and pencils you found, you’ll first need to break items down with the Recycler to turn them into resources. Here’s how to use the Recycler in Prey.

First off, it’s worth noting that the Typhon I has a number of Recyclers dotted around, so you should never be too far away. Next, simply look for the recycle symbol on your map. Make your way here and walk up to the left side of the machine. You should be able to interact with the Recycler by pressing Square/ X.

Once you’ve done this your inventory will open. Select the items you want to convert into crafting materials. You can also hold Square/ X to move all junk items into the Recycler, ensuring you don’t select something that may have been more useful to you in its original form.

Once you’ve moved all items across that you want to break down, back out of the menu and head to the central panel. Press Square/ X to confirm you want to recycle the items. After a while, your new crafting materials will appear on the right side of the Recycler.

That’s all you need to do to use this handy machine in Prey. For more tips, tricks, and information on the game, be sure to check out our wiki guide.
