Zelda Breath of the Wild: How to Get Wolf Link

While he may have only featured in Twilight Princess until now, Wolf Link can actually make an appearance in Zelda Breath of the Wild, too. Oh, and did we mention he’s incredibly useful?

Wolf Link is a powerful companion that will assist you in battle and can deal out some hefty damage. What’s more, however, he can also hunt for food, meaning you can spend less time crafting basic dishes and instead make better-replenishing meals.

In order to get Wolf Link in Zelda Breath of the Wild, you’ll need to have the Wolf Link Twilight Princess amiibo. If you’ve got it, simply tap it on your Joy-Con or Pro controller and he will appear. He’ll have three hearts of health, which is the same as you’ll have when you start the game. Just like Link in Breath of the Wild, Wolf Link can also get more hearts.

Those who complete the challenges that unlock in Twilight Princess HD on the Wii U when you use the amiibo can increase the number of hearts that Wolf Link has in the game. Then, simply tap the amiibo again on your Wii U gamepad, and the next time you use the amiibo on the Switch, he’ll have that number of hearts. This is particularly useful during the early stages of the game when the challenge can be pretty steep.
