According to Marvel, Jon Bernthal will be playing the titular antihero, reprising the role after appearing in season 2 of Daredevil. Steve Lightfoot (Hannibal) will serve as showrunner and Executive Producer, and has written the series’ first two episodes.

“For me, the complexity and unpredictability of Frank Castle make him an incredibly compelling character and I couldn’t be more excited to dive into his world,” Lightfoot said. “After watching Jon’s performance in ‘Marvel’s Daredevil’ I could not be more excited to be working with him to further develop and progress the story of this anti-hero in a show of his own.”

The Punisher is the sixth Marvel name coming exclusively to Netflix, joining Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Defenders, which will be a group miniseries starring the previous names.
