Originally released in 2013, The Last of Us came to PS3 with a humble approach. From its initial reveal, right to its release date, the game was one of the most anticipated games of 2013.

The game followed the story of Ellie and Joel through a post-apocalyptic world where the developer’s take on the Cordycep Virus, which takes control of the higher brain functions and turns people into savage creatures, has taken over the world. The game’s story was its strongest apect as it showed the lives of these people whose entire existence has crumbled to nothing.

The game went on to receiving 195 nominations across various publications and award cremonies. Of that 195, Naught Dog walked home with 122 awards, including being nominated for seven awards at the Spike VGX 2013, where the game took home four of the prizes. The Last of Us still stands as the most awarded game in history.
