Xbox One is getting larger Party Chat rooms, and according to Microsoft’s Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb, the long-demanded feature is going out today.
“Garnering over 2200 votes on Xbox Feedback, we are expanding party chat to include 12 people,” Major Nelson shared in a blog post. “There will be no visible update for your app or console, it’s all server side.”
Starting today, users on the Xbox One or the Xbox App on Windows 10 will be able to include up to 12 people in their chat parties, a substantial upgrade from the usual 8-player limit.
Great news: EVERYONE on Xbox One is getting 12-person Party Chat today. (Xbox One & Xbox App on Windows 10.) No preview required 🙂

The increased party size is coincidentally perfect for Halo 5’s Warzone multiplayer mode, where each team will have up to 12 members.
The update also includes new features for users in the New Xbox One Experience Preview, including a streamlined Game DVR system, new animated avatars, and updated menu and Guide settings. You can check out the full details on Major Nelson’s blog.
