April 2018 PS4 VIDEO GAME RELEASES
(WEEKS ONE – FOUR: April 1-30)
2018 promises an impressive lineup of exclusive titles for the PS4, and April has one of the year’s most anticipated in store for us. Aside from that one big excitement, though, it is a fairly quiet month for new game releases.
The first week of the month kicks off with a number of smaller releases, including two PSVR titles, Crisis on the Planet of the Apes, and Rick and Morty: Virtual Rick-Ality. The popular MMO Tera makes its way to consoles for the first time during this week too. Meanwhile, Shadow of the Colossus and Attack on Titan fans should take notice of Extinction on April 10. The game casts you as a lone hero taking on massive 100-ft ogres, zipping through the air to attack different body parts.
The third week is when things really hit, with both Yakuza 6: The Song of Life and God of War arriving. Releasing on April 17, Yakuza 6 features a narrative that brings to a close to the tale of Kazuma Kiryu. The game uses a brand new engine, called the Dragon Engine, totally overhauling the series’ graphics and gameplay. We gave Yakuza 6 a 4.5/5 and thought it was a fitting end to Kiryu’s story; you can see our review here.
Just three days later on April 20, the PS4 gets God of War, a new chapter in the storied action series. This entry sees an older Kratos who now has a son named Atreus, and must do battle with the creatures and gods of Norse mythology. The title completely overhauls the combat of the series, replacing Kratos’ blades with an axe, and features a new camera perspective that zooms much closer than before. It also looks like the story this time around will be much more emotional, and Kratos seems to have simmered down a bit in his old age. Here’s the full list of PS4 releases for April:
