Fortnite: How to Repair Weapons

How to Repair Weapons in Fortnite

Recommended Videos

Whether you’re looking into what hero class you want to use or trying to figure out what weapon is your favorite, there are a lot of different stats to pay attention to in Fortnite. One particularly important stat in Fortnite is a weapon’s durability. If you look off to the side of the weapons you have equipped you’ll notice a very thin bar that decreases over time. Once this bar empties out, your weapon breaks and you’ll no longer be able to use it again. This isn’t a new mechanic by any means, especially for this particularly type of game. What is a bit unusual, however, are your options after the weapon breaks.

There is currently no option within Fortnite to repair a weapon before it breaks and once it’s gone you don’t have many courses of action after the fact.  So what do you do once your favorite weapon breaks and you can’t repair it? The only option right now is to simply find the schematic for the weapon and craft the weapon all over again. Of course, this exposes a pretty big issue when it comes to drops. You may end up collecting some rare weapons throughout the game but if you don’t have the schematic for it you’re time with the new weapon is limited.

Keep in mind, however, that Fortnite is still in early access so the ability to repair weapons could be a feature that’s added to the game once it becomes free to play next year.

It can be rather frustrating, but the lack of a repair option in Fortnite may actually serve a purpose. Requiring players to obtain schematics for high level weapons in order to keep them means a player can’t freely benefit from a higher level friend without putting in any of the work. You can’t get a powerful weapon from a friend and hold on to it for long since you can’t just repair it. You’ll have to actually keep advancing through a variety of different missions in Fortnite if you want your inventory to consistently have powerful weapons waiting for you.
