Outlast 2: How to Listen & Eavesdrop

How to Listen & Eavesdrop in Outlast 2

While exploring the dark and twisted world of Outlast 2, players will want to use every tool at their disposal in order to survive. Given that players have no way of directly fighting back, using mechanics such as eavesdropping to listen in on your stalkers could very well save your life.

This can be accomplished two ways, both of which have different levels of effectiveness based on what you do. The first is simple enough and requires the user to move close to a wall or fence, as this instantly allows you to listen in on any foe that could be wandering around the area. This has a very limited range, however, so don’t expect to hear across a room or open field if you want to directly pinpoint a foe’s position.

The second way you can listen will require the use of your camera in Outlast 2, which can be brought up by hitting either R1 (PlayStation 4) or RB (Xbox One). Using your camera you cannot only eavesdrop on them but track their movements which can be especially helpful in the game’s latter stages. When you bring the camera up, there will be two meters on the left-hand side with an L and R underneath them. The meter with the higher level indicates which direction relative to the player the enemy is. If they are both even then your foe is directly in front of you. Having the camera up also lets you listen in, but this will be at the expense of battery life, so use it wisely.

Gaining an edge in Outlast 2 is critical to your survival, so make sure to always eavesdrop even if you don’t initially see an enemy wandering about. For more tips, tricks, and guides make sure to check out our Outlast 2 wiki for all your horrific needs.
