4 Nintendo Anniversaries Pokemon Totally Overshadowed This Year

Pokemon 20th birthday anniversary
The Pokémon series just celebrated its 20th anniversary in style with lots of exciting events and announcements. There was the special Super Bowl commercial promoting the anniversary, the reveal of Pokémon Sun and Moon, the first ever re-release of the original three Game Boy games to the 3DS Virtual Console, and even a parade of Pikachus through downtown New York City. That’s not to mention other previously announced goodies such as the upcoming Pokkén Tournament for Wii U, Detective Pikachu on the 3DS in Japan, a re-release of the original Pokémon Trading Card Game cards, a BluRay triple pack of the first three movies, the upcoming mobile game Pokémon Go, and several other promotions.

This anniversary has seriously been getting more press than Mario’s 30th birthday last year, and we’re only two months into 2016. Of course the fever pitch is likely past us since the official anniversary has passed as of Feb. 27, but it’s still mighty impressive just how dedicated Nintendo and The Pokémon Company have been to this momentous anniversary. However, all this Poké-hullabaloo has been taking away from several other notable Nintendo anniversaries that deserve plenty of praise as well.
