The Mario & Luigi games were somewhat an anomaly. Could Nintendo truly recapture the magic from Super Mario RPG and Paper Mario? They did – better yet, they improved on them. The original Mario RPGS were characterized by comedic writing, active combat mechanics, and exploration of Mario’s (and Luigi’s) world. Back in 2003, Nintendo brought the GameBoy Advance to life with Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga. The astounding success of this new Mario RPG brought forth more entries in the “saga,” including: Partners in Time, Bowser’s Inside Story, Dream Team, and now Paper Jam.
While all the games are somewhat related, no official timeline exists for any subsequent game in the series. Nintendo has however tied all the games together through a series of various easter eggs scattered throughout the franchise. Here are a few:
