Alucard From Hellsing & Hellsing Ultimate
Sometimes the only way to fight and kill monsters is to throw in an even, bigger fiercer monster at them. For the Royal Protestant Knights / the Hellsing Organization, from the Hellsing anime & manga, their trump card against the forces of darkness is the ultimate vampire – Alucard. Armed with a cool, biting personality, an appreciation for stylish theatrics, practically omnipotent & invulnerable, and a powerful set of pistols, this vampire brings destruction to all enemies – including zombies, ghouls, vampires, freaks, heretics, and a ton of Nazis. Not to mention, his ultimate form transforms him back into Count Dracula/Vlad the Impaler, decked with medieval armor and a sword, and a summoned army of the damned behind him.
If there ever was a more appropriate hunter to fit the bill to single-handedly ridding the city of Yharnam of its demonic denizens, it would be Alucard. He is a creature of the night that subjugates all who threaten his master with little mercy. I mean, come on, look at him! Furthermore, similar to the mechanics of the game where your hunter gains strength and customization options from drinking Tainted and Pure Blood via the Blood System, Alucard becomes stronger and acquires the abilities, knowledge, memories, and souls from the blood he drinks.
I feel so so sorry for any bosses who went up against Alucard. Total overkill.
It is no surprise here the members of the Bloodborne community sought to recreate this force of nature. On NeoGAF, user Loakum has attempted to create the best Hellsing Ultimate Alucard adaptation over the course of the past week in the NeoGAF “Show Off Your Bloodborne Hunter” thread. Over the course of four posts, his results are impressive and accurate (post 1, post 2, post 3, and post 4).
A second user by the name Somnium posted his/her rendition of Alucard – complete with his iconic orange-red sunglasses and the perfect selection of Victorian-era cloak and hat.
Harry Potter
At the end of the Harry Potter books, Harry Potter happily married Ginny Weasley, raised a family, and began a career working as an Auror at the Ministry of Magic. He lived happily ever after, and his scar no longer hurt ever since defeating Lord Voldemort and his army on that fateful day on the grounds of Hogwarts… Or so he says! What if Harry, on Auror assignment, goes to investigate a city called Yarnham that has been possessed and ravaged by powerful Dark Magic – a magic far more terrible than that of the former Dark Lord? And so, once more The Boy Who Lived has his mettle tested as he struggles to survive and investigate the terrible happenings occurring all around him.
Such dark and desperate times call for a hero. While there were more than a few incarnations of Harry Potter / Daniel Radcliffe look-alikes on NeoGAF and Reddit, none was more badass than the Harry Potter created by NeoGAF user Zombie James. He’ll need more than the Expelliarmus spell to survive this city.
Look at this majestic mane Harry has going on! 10 points to Gryffindor!
The Joker from DC Comics
You know him; you know you love him. He goes by many names – the Clown Prince of Crime, the Ace of Knaves, the Harlequin of Hate. It is the one and only Joker! When the criminals of Gotham want to scare each other, they spin tales about the Batman. When villains and rogues get together, they instead swap horror stories about the Joker. He has no origin and no end – the Joker only is,what he is is pure chaos with a smile and a killer punch line. It sounds like he would enjoy himself quite nicely a Yharnam – to him, it’s the same as going back home to Arkham Asylum.
Since the release of Bloodborne, character skins of the Joker has since gone viral thanks to the work of a player named Devil_C who had submitted his work to the folks at PSX-Sense. His work is nothing less than breathtaking and satisfying.
Another submission worthy of acclaim is the work of Reddit user mynameisnotspecial.
Bloodborne fans have also taken to Youtube to create walkthroughs on how to create your own Joker, such as Fat Robot Entertainment and DSPGaming. Short, simple, and sweet – AND, you don’t need no pesky Batman or a giant vat of chemicals to pull it off! Now, if only Mark Hamill could lend his voice and have it uploaded to the game in the next patch…
Nigel Thornberry from the The Wild Thornberrys
Born from royal stock, Sir Nigel Archibald Thornberry rejected the dull comforts of decadence and opulence for a lifelong pursuit of adventure and discovery. This optimistic, enthusiastic, eccentric, and lovable zoologist travels the world with his family filming documentaries on exotic places and animals. So what is doing here in Yharnam? Why to capture footage of its monsters for his next bloody brilliant film feature of course!
Thanks to Reddit user BlackMageUltima and NeoGAF user checkeredknight, Yarnham now has two Nigel Thornberry’s running around!
SMASHING! BLARGH!
Walter White / Heisenberg from Breaking Bad
If you believe in the many worlds theory or parallel universes, it is postulated that every single possible permutation of the self to an infinite degree exists out there. Take for example, Walter White from the critically acclaimed AMC TV show, Breaking Bad. Mr. White is a down-on-his-luck high school chemistry teacher recently diagnosed with lung cancer. Wanting to provide and support his family before he kicks the bucket, he teams up with a former student, Jesse Pinkman to cook methamphetamine in a get-rich scheme. Over the course of time, the duo becomes drawn deep into the criminal underworld and the repercussions of their actions.
How many of you would crowd-fund a television show where Walter White was a former alchemist and had contracted a strange, mysterious disease that even his scientific arts could not reverse? Driven to desperation, the mild-mannered alchemist travels to Yharnam in search of a cure but finds it crawling with demonic beasts. Determined to survive, Walter White becomes “Heisenberg” – a legendary hunter that seeks to rid the city of its infection (as well as his own. However, in the process he sacrifices his own humanity to attain the power he needs to do the impossible. Now that’s a TV show worth following.
Or you can create a Walter White / Heisenberg look-alike in Bloodborne as Reddit user skookum_qq has done to great effect. Clearly, the drug empire-building business was not enough. He’s in the demon killing business now and business is good.
I am not in danger, Skylar. I am the danger… I am the one who hunts!
Ganondorf from The Legend of Zelda series
What do all people of power ultimately crave? More power! And so, having conquered the kingdom of Hyrule, the megalomaniac Ganondorf has set his sights on new horizons to subjugate and control. What if one of these cities happened to be Yharnam? What dark powers and secrets could appeal to Ganondorf whilst he has the Triforce of Power in his possession? And where is our hero Link in all this? Thanks to the exploits of Reddit user SKM3, users can now play out their own stories of what this particular adaptation of the despotwould do.
D from Vampire Hunter D
Next on our list is the bounty hunter D from the popular Vampire Hunter D franchise. Under the parentage of a human mother and a vampire father (none other than Dracula himself), D is a dhampir – thus, the perfect vampire hunter as he has the strengths of both races and weaknesses of neither. Harnessing both terrifying and graceful physical strength and capabilities, alongside powerful magicks, he rides atop a cybernetic steed through the ravaged, post-nuclear apocalyptic Earth where vampires and humans co-exist but is rife with genetically engineered beasts, demons, zombies, corruption, fear, chaos, and techno-sorcery. Among the bounty hunters, he is the absolute best and will do your bidding for the right price. Like Alucard, D would be in perfect company if he were to be cast into the world of Bloodborne, cleaving enemies asunder with his longsword.
This rendition of the dhampir was created and posted by Mylene on NeoGAF. He is a beautiful and terrible force to behold.
Gandalf from the The Hobbit and The Lord Of The Rings
There are a great many and terrible things that lurk in the dark. Take the wretched Balrog, for example – an ancient demon deep in the mines of Moria. But with the Flame of Anor, with righteous and holy strength, Gandalf the Grey vanquished the Balrog saving his dear friends in the process. Gandalf lost his life deep in those caves but that was not his tomb. Great evil still stirred and proliferated. Gandalf was brought back to the world of the living to fight and overthrow the machinations of the Great Enemy. No, not Sauron – rather, the great evil that inhabits Yharnam!
NeoGAF user Marvel has done this world and Middle-Earth a great service in bringing Gandalf the Grey to life in Bloodborne. And how do you make one of the most powerful wizards of all time even more badass? You give him an overpowered handcannon, duh.
The Undertaker from Wrestlemania
How many people would want to see your hunter finish off Bloodborne bosses with a Tombstone Pilediver? That would be hands down one of the most memorable and epic boss kills ever. Yet, there is only one man who is deserving of such power and prestige. His name is the Undertaker, feared by all in the WWE. Renowned as a champion in our world with astounding victory streaks and being impervious to pain, the legendary Deadman has arrived to establish his reign in this new city. To do so, he will slay every beast with his bare hands, with ladders, with steel chairs, with pretty everything and anything else that he can find.
Thanks to NeoGAF user modest-genius the Undertaker has been given new unlife in the world of Bloodborne and will seek to pile drive and choke-slam every fiend he encounters. A man has got to defend his title, you know.
Alucard from the Castlevania series
Vampires sure seem to love Yharnam. They’re coming to the city in droves – such as Alucard! No, not that Alucard. The other one – the one who was the son of Dracula. No, no – that’s Vampire Hunter D you are thinking of. This is Alucard from the Castlevania series. First introduced in Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse through helping the player defeat his own father, Alucard (also known as Adrian Fahrenheit Țepeș) is the sword-wielding protagonist in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. Alucard utilizes the best his vampiric heritage has to offer (increased physical prowess, magical powers, shapeshifting) to fight against the tyranny of his father and his armies time and time again. Having been awakened from his slumber by NeoGAF user DracoBlade, he is free to fight once more against the forces of darkness.
