Oddly enough, some of the best new content in Destiny 2: Forsaken is hidden away and not required. Strikes, Lost Sectors, and the already mentioned Wanted Missions are technically not required. Although not ideal, you could skip them entirely and still eventually be high enough power level to do stuff like Gambit and the Raid.

However, by skipping it you’re doing yourself a disservice because it’s some of the most original and best content Destiny 2 has gotten in a while. Lost Sectors have gotten way more love this time around. The rewards are sligthly better and they are commonly tied with bounties now, but it’s more about the aesthetic and experience. One new Lost Sector sees the Fallen meddling with a stereo system and playing music. Another, has you interrupting some sort of weird Scorn ritual.

There’s one at The Dreaming City, which features a misty beach-like area that is among the prettiest locations in Destiny 2 period. There’s actual charm and personality to the new Lost Sectors other than just being some secluded place. Also, it’s worth noting that the hardest Wanted bounties from Spider appear to be located in Lost Sectors and have an actual strike-like boss fight at the end.

Speaking of strikes, the ones added in Destiny 2: Forsaken are so much better than the “strikes” AKA, 3-man story missions that were featured in Warmind and Curse of Osiris. If you’re a Destiny 1 fan, running Warden of Nothing is mandatory.

Finally, there’s a lot of opportunities to combine all of these things through the new bounties, including the Wanted Mission Bounties, and be super efficient about gaining rewards. In one strike, you could knock out Vanguard, Eververse, and Clan bounties while taking out a Wanted enemy hiding in a strike and of course reap the reward at the end of the activity.
