Start Building Gear Sets & Get Raid Ready

The raid is coming next week, and it’s going to be really rough for all but the most skilled of Destiny 2 players to jump into blind and be a worthwhile team member. This is because you’re going to need to have done every weekly and daily challenge in the first and second week in order to maybe be at the recommended power level, and even then, it will be tough without having an established strategy out in the open.

The best thing you can do after reaching the post game, whether you’re a PvE or PvP player, is to start prepping up your gear and ensuring that you’re “raid ready.” Do every single weekly and daily challenge that you can handle. They are marked on the Director with a gold star. Some of them might be tough – grab a buddy if that’s the case – but get them done because the reward of Powerful Engrams (AKA, gear that actually pumps your power level up) is worth it.

Also, bounties are way more important than they were previously, like we already mentioned. Not only do they sometimes contain valuable rewards such as Legendary Shards, the more difficult ones offered up by Spider and Petra may even contain Powerful Engrams. Don’t overlook them just because in Destiny 1 they were kind of pointless other than leveling up. They aren’t useless anymore. The Wanted Bounties from Spider reward legendary gear that you can do to try and get yourself a nice amount of them to either dismantle, or find something you like that’s new.

Sort through your armor and try to find pieces that support your preferred playing style. Even if you think it looks cool, try not to use Gauntlets that boost something about the Arc subclass, when you play Solar. It’s a wasted mod slot. Also, some weapons and armors are clearly designed for PvP, PvE and/or certain subclasses. Yes, maybe you have a high power level exotic or legendary that you really like, but if it doesn’t really fit for your subclass or the activity you’re trying to accomplish, then that’s something that’s probably worthy of being infused into something more useful.

On the flip side, though, keep in mind that Infusion is expensive now. It requires Masterwork Cores which are not easy to get unless you are flushed with Legendary Shards. Save them for the equipment that you really cannot play without, your favorites from the last two expansions or vanilla Destiny 2. Try to experiment with new Forsaken weapons, you might find that you like them as much if not more than some of your old favorites, and it will save you from having to waste Masterwork Cores.

If you want free stuff and don’t mind putting the work in, you can knock out some of the new exotic quests such as the Ace of Spades.

And, of course, once the Last Wish raid is out that’s something you’ll want to do post game if you have any interest in PvE.
