Tales of Berseria: How to Get More Cooking Dishes

Like with every Tales game, Tales of Berseria has a cooking system that can give you the edge in battle with stat boosts and other effects. One meal can be applied to the party at any given time, and of course you’ll need the proper ingredients to make it. Berseria’s system works a bit differently however, as each dish you apply has to have a special trigger condition met during battle. This could be something like a character’s HP dropping below 70%.

Early on in the game you’ll get your first dish you can make, and no doubt you’ll be wondering how you can get more. A few dishes can be learned through the story and world, but the main way of learning new meals comes from Expeditions. About 10 to 12 hours into the game, you’ll gain the ability to send your ship out and scout different parts of the sea. This is a menu option called “Expedition,” selected through the main menu.

After the allotted waiting, usually 30 minutes, your ship will come back bearing any cargo they could plunder. Much of what they bring back are ingredients for cooking, which in turn will lead to learning new dishes. Simply send out your ship frequently, uncover new areas, and before you’ll know it you’ll have a list of meals to choose from.

It should also be noted that you can set up an auto-cook option in the menu, so the party can automatically make and eat a meal after each battle. Try out a bunch of different dish options and see what bonuses they give you in battle.
