NieR Automata: How to Find Emil’s Shop and Make Him Sell Different Items

NieR: Automata – Finding Emil’s Shop

Recommended Videos

Emil will start driving around the City Ruins after you clear the main story mission in the Forest Zone. He seems to rotate between three driving routes in NieR: Automata, but your first encounter with him will likely be in the area leading to the Desert Camp. You can also bring up your map to look for an icon in the shape of Emil’s head. Go to the icon, and you’ll find Emil.

While Emil’s near the Desert Camp, he will sell you plug-in chips. His prices are a little exorbitant, but he does sell useful stuff like Overclock and Vengeance. Talking to him for the first time will also give you access to the side mission that leads you to the Lunar Tear trophy.

His second route has him driving around the center ruins and near the Abandoned Factory. If you manage to stop him during this route, Emil will sell mid-tier upgrade materials. This can be useful if you have a lot of money and you’re looking for a quick and easy way to upgrade weapons.

His third and final route is the hardest to trigger. On this route, Emil will drive around the waterfall outside the Resistance Camp. If you catch him here, Emil will sell two weapons, along with top-tier upgrade materials. You need to get him on this route if you want 100% weapon completion.

While it’s difficult to confirm what exactly makes Emil change his route, we’ve had a larger rate of success by talking to Emil during his first two routes. The first time you talk to him, he gives you a hint about where he lives. If you stop him during the second route, he makes a comment about how you’re too aggressive. Once you’ve exhausted all of his dialogue, you should have a chance of catching him on this third route. You’ll probably have to reload the area a couple of times to trigger the third route, but it’ll happen eventually. Just make sure to talk to him when he’s on the other routes.
