The Smaller Game – Stardew Valley
PS Plus Free Games Predictions
After the larger game usually a smaller indie fills in the final PS4 free game slot, and we predict Stardew Valley will be that indie game.
Last month, rumors starting circulating that the two free games for May 2020 were leaked being were Dying Light and Dark Souls: Remastered. When the official list of Farming Simulator 19 and Cities: Skyline was revealed a few days later, some were rightly bummed out the rumor wasn’t true (because Dying Light and the Dark Souls games are great) but Sony taking the simulator route for its free games makes sense during COVID-19.
With everyone staying home it’s reasonable to choose to offer games that can be considered ‘time sinks’ as they were, since a lot of people currently have ample on their hands with the world in a global pandemic. Both Farming Simulator 19 and Cities: Skyline offer gameplay that could potentially go up into the hundreds of hours, and Stardew Valley fits into that same category.
Stardew Valley would be a perfect inclusion on PS Plus right now as its regarded as a very zen and relaxing game that also has the potential to take up a lot of your time. These two features are also why the newest Animal Crossing has been such a hit as well. People are looking for calming games to curb their anxieties in a stressful time, and Stardew Valley does exactly that with its repetitious but enjoyable simulator gameplay.
Make sure to check back with Twinfinite for Sony’s offical reveal of the two PS Plus games for June 2020 to see if any of our predictions were correct.
