On top of all of the quests, enemies, and weapons added to Fallout 4 via Far Harbor, there’s a new companion as well. Old Longfellow is a lot like you. A former Vault Dweller who is now trying to survive out in the Wasteland. He’s a fisherman, and he’s one of the few people who knows how to move through the fog creeping over the island.
To get him as your companion you will have to complete “Walk in the Park,” which is the first story mission you’ll get after arriving at Far Harbor. You can find this old man inside of the town bar, The Last Plank. Talk to him, and he’ll agree to escort you to Arcadia, a Synth Settlement. You don’t have to take him, but it’s not a bad idea to do so to get a bit more out of Far Harbor’s story.
Upon completing the quest line, Old Longfellow will grant you access to his cabin as well as join your fight, allowing you to send him to any of your other settlements, or even bring him along with you.
If you do use Old Longfellow as a companion, and max out his affinity you gain a very useful Perk called “Hunter’s Wisdom.” This Perk reduces the damage and energy resistance of all animals and sea critters by a whopping 25%. If you plan on spending a lot of time in Far Harbor, that is definitely a very useful perk due to the abundance of wildlife.
