How to Use the Map in Destiny 2

Recommended Videos

Destiny 2 allows players to actually use the Director (the game’s map) for more than just choosing a planet or a playlist to go to (finally). You can actually use these maps to navigate while you’re planetside, and even set waypoints. And thankfully it’s all really easy to do.

To bring up the map, simply hold down the touchpad on the DualShock 4 or the menu button (the one with the lines) on the Xbox One controller. Hold it for about 2-3 seconds and the Director will pop up. You can now move around using the thumbstick. If you’ve unlocked fast travel points, you can highlight those and press X/A to use them. Also, if you happen to have missions, Adventures, or public events available on the map, you can set waypoints that will show up on your HUD for you to navigate to much more easily.

Do note that you cannot fast travel to anything that is not an actual mission. Lost Sectors, Treasures, and other things of that nature cannot be fast-traveled to nor can you set a waypoint. that’s all there is to keep in mind when using the map in Destiny 2.
