How to Unlock the Gunslinger Subclass in Destiny 2

Recommended Videos

While the Arcstrider has been getting a ton of attention since the reveal of Destiny 2, there are two other subclasses that players can get out there. One of those is the Gunslinger, one of the original subclasses for the Hunter from vanilla Destiny that many players fell in love with during the alpha stages. It’s back, and it’s still slinging hot lead in the faces of evil aliens.

You actually have this subclass to use during the Destiny 2’s opening mission, but Ghaul soon strips you of your light and turns you into a regular old, capable of dying, no flaming gun-having human. So you have to fight to get it back.

While you explore the various locales that Destiny 2 has to offer, you’re going to want to do some Public Events, Lost Sectors, and kill some High Valued Targets. In the chests that drop, you have a chance of picking up a relic called the Melted Hand Cannon. This unlocks the Gunslinger quest that asks you to charge the relic by killing enemies and completing activities while playing Destiny 2. Once it’s all charged up, you’ll have to go to the Shard of the Traveler.

This is where you’ll fight to unlock the Gunslinger subclass. After clearing out some enemies, interact with the Shard to activate the relic and gain access to the Golden Gun super. There will be some pools of light that instantly charge the Gunslinger’s super, so make use of them to wipe out all of the enemies. Once they’re dead, you’ll now have full access to the Gunslinger Hunter subclass in Destiny 2. Make them burn, Guardian.
