How to Farm Legendary and Exotic Engrams in Destiny 2

Recommended Videos

After you’ve beaten the main campaign in Destiny 2, you’re going to want to focus your attention on raising your Power level and farming better gear for your Guardian. This means hoarding as many legendary and exotic engrams as you can find. After beating the campaign, you’ll be rewarded with an exotic engram, which can be decrypted at the Cryptarch. Beating the story and talking to the various NPCs in the social space will also reward you with a few legendary engrams.

However, you’ll have to start putting in some real work for them after that. Listed below are some ways you can farm legendary and exotic engrams after beating the story.

Increase reputation and vendor levels: Turn in your planet tokens to the corresponding vendors to rank up with them. Every rank nets you a free legendary engram package. The same goes for Vanguard and Crucible reputation ranks. Tokens can be farmed very easily by completing public events or opening chests on a planet.

Strike playlist: This is where the real grind starts. Strikes are your best bet for farming engrams, and you’ll be rewarded with a few engrams after completing one. If you’re really lucky, you might even get an exotic.

Crucible: If you’re more PVP-inclined, Crucible matches can also reward you with legendary and exotic engrams. The drop rate for exotics is pretty low, of course, but it’s still a viable option.

Milestones: Every week, your milestones get a quick refresh and some of them will reward you with legendary or powerful gear. Check these from your Director, and complete them for some free loot.

Outside of that, you could also potentially get lucky and snag some purple or yellow drops from killing random enemies out in the wild, but we wouldn’t place too much hope on that.
