Crackdown 3 may have been announced back at E3 2014 for the Xbox One, but that’s about all we’ve really seen or heard of the game since. Sure, Phil Spencer was quick to reassure players that development on Crackdown 3 wasn’t set to go the same way as the now-canceled Scalebound, but it’s been a while since we saw the title in action for ourselves.

With Microsoft’s 4K-capable Project Scorpio on the horizon, there’s a good chance Crackdown 3 will be a launch title for the system and we’ll finally get a closer look at the game in all its glory at E3 2017. At least we hope so, or that kind of lengthy absence would certainly be cause for concern.

Why are we excited and also concerned about Crackdown 3? The team was using “the power of the cloud” to allow for completely destructible multiplayer environments. What that means is plenty of chaotic explosions and action when playing with friends on a scale bigger than we’ve seen before. If it works well, it’ll make for one of the most enjoyable multiplayer playgrounds to date. Let’s just hope we see more of it sooner rather than later.
