Freedom Fighters
In a world where the Soviet Union dropped the first Atomic Bomb, the United States is on the verge of invasion, as communist red states pop up all over the globe. When the Soviets launch a surprise attack, it is up to two plumbers, Chris and Troy Stone, to lead the resistance.
The game takes place entirely in New York, as players control Chris, who in turn can recruit people to join his cause via Charisma. This is earned by freeing prisoners, capturing bases, and destroying supplies.
In a time where creative third-person shooters were a dime a dozen, Freedom Fighters stood out thanks to these unique mechanics and its Red Dawn-like invasion storyline.
While the name and premise itself are pretty darn patriotic, I can also think of few things more ‘Merica than two blue collared brothers fighting for freedom.
