Oh man, this summer is definitely hot for video games and PlayStation is celebrating in these sweat-filled times by busting out yet another sale. The PS Summer Sale starts today and will go on for pretty much the entire month of August, ending on the 20th.
There’s a full list of games on sale over at the official PS Blog but we have rounded up some of the best games on sale that you cannot miss out on.
Here are the 7 best PS Store Summer Sale 2019 deals that you should check out:
Devil May Cry 5
It’s been quite some time since we’ve seen a new entry in Capcom’s Devil May Cry series, but thanks to all of the time that this game spent cooking in the oven, it came out nearly perfect.
This highly stylistic hack and slash action game stars Dante, Nero, and a mysterious new character named V, who each have their own separate campaign with totally different battle styles.
It feels like three different games packed into one action-packed experience and truly shows how good Capcom is at making a game that is the literal definition of “cool.” If you just listen to the Devil Breaker track that’s constantly played in DMC5, you’ll realize just how rad it all is.
You can save a whopping $20 if you purchase Devil May Cry 5 right now from the PS Store. It’s only $39.59 instead of the original $59.99 until Aug. 20, so you have a lot of time to save up and dig for change underneath the couch cushions.
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey
Ubisoft danced with RPG mechanics a little bit when it came to Assassin’s Creed Origins a few years back but Odyssey takes things up a notch and has now strayed quite far from the old formula and has transitioned to becoming a full-fledged historical RPG with a leveling system and all.
Traveling through ancient Greece as Kassandra and Alexios proved to be a really fun time thanks to all of the sidequests with a surprising amount of depth and lore, and also thanks to the excellent writing and cheeky personalities of the two heroes.
You can grab Assassin’s Creed Odyssey for only $23.99 right now thanks to the PS Summer Sale –quite the deal if you ask us.
Tetris Effect
I’m sure you already knew how good of a puzzle game Tetris is, but Tetris Effect in VR takes things up a notch by adding insane imagery and interactive music that will blow your mind and take you to another world.
We reviewed Tetris Effect and we were blown away by the impressive details in the backgrounds, the high replay value, and the trippy effects, so much that we scored the game a five out of five.
If you don’t have a PSVR headset, you can still enjoy Tetris Effect without it, but we insist that you should try it in VR if possible. You can pick it up on the PS Store for only $24.79 right now.
Monster Hunter: World
With the release of Monster Hunter: World back in 2018, Capcom finally got the attention of gamers everywhere thanks to the streamlined system and beginner-friendly approach that they brought into the action role-playing title.
An easier way to track down monsters, simpler menu systems and open maps that are teeming with monsters, wildlife, and a bunch of different ecosystems have all contributed to making World the best way for beginners to jump into the grind.
Now that the big expansion, Iceborne, is on the horizon, now is the perfect time to dive into this massive RPG, especially now that it’s only $24.99 as part of the PS Summer Sale.
Dragon Ball Fighterz
Dragon Ball FighterZ brings together all of the iconic heroes and villains from the Dragon Ball universe and throws them into awesome 2D battles that emulate the art style featured in the popular anime series.
It pays homage to the long-running television show and brings in a simple to learn, yet hard to master combat system that caters towards newcomers and veterans alike.
Right now, you can pick up this fighter for only $14.99, and considering that the game is usually priced at $59.99, there’s no reason not to download this if you’re a fan of Goku, Piccolo, Vegeta and everyone else.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider
The gameplay loop of the Tomb Raider reboot series is as satisfying as ever in this final entry of Crystal Dynamic’s trilogy. Shooting feels great, traversing across different environments is as fun as ever, and the set-pieces are absolutely brilliant and beautiful, being on par with other action games, like Uncharted.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider might not be the best game in this trilogy but it wraps everything up in a nice little bow that’s worth playing, especially if you can purchase it for the lower price.
It’s up for sale on the PS Store for the price of $19.79 and that’s a fantastic deal.
Resident Evil 2
The recent remake of Capcom’s Resident Evil 2 wasn’t just a simple HD remaster of the beloved classic but it truly showed off how a good remake is done.
Resident Evil 2 brings back the horror-filled hallways of the Racoon City Police Department and gives us the same claustrophobic feeling that occurs when Mr. X starts chasing after you or when Lickers pop out of the windows during a thunderstorm –it’s terrifying.
If you’re looking for a truly horrifying experience on PS4, look no further than Resident Evil 2. You don’t need any prior knowledge of the series’ lore and right now it’s up for grabs for only $35.99. You can also read our glowing review if you’re on the fence.
